Technical Assistance Facility

Technical Assistance

Accelerating the Transition to Inclusive Regenerative Agriculture

The ACT Fund Technical Assistance Facility provides tailored support to agri-SMEs and smallholder farmers across Africa, Latin America, and Asia; building capacity for climate resilience, biodiversity restoration, and inclusive value chains.

Our Vision

We envision smallholder-based agricultural systems that restore ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, and improve livelihoods. By supporting agri-SMEs to adopt inclusive regenerative practices, the ACT TA Facility helps position farmers—not as passive beneficiaries—but as active agents in building sustainable food systems.

What is Inclusive Regenerative Agriculture

Inclusive Regenerative Agriculture (IRA) places smallholder farmers at the center of agricultural systems designed to restore soils, enhance biodiversity, and build climate resilience.

IRA emphasizes practices that are feasible for smallholders, gender-responsive, economically viable, and ecologically sound.

Why Technical Assistance?

Capital alone is not enough. Agri-SMEs need technical expertise to implement regenerative practices at scale.

  • SMEs drive 50%+ of GDP and 67% of employment in the regions we work;
  • Most lack capacity for climate adaptation, organic certification, agroforestry;
  • Smallholders need training, inputs, and extension support;
  • Well-designed TA de-risks investments and ensures sustainability.

Our Approach

We focus on three strategic outcomes:

Climate Resilience

Strengthening adaptive capacity through climate diagnostics, adaptation planning, and training in climate-smart practices

Examples:

  • Climate diagnostics
  • Adaptation planning
  • Training in climate-smart practices

Biodiversity Restoration

Restoring ecosystems through agroforestry, organic practices, and soil health improvement

Examples:

  • Agroforestry systems
  • Organic practices
  • Soil health improvement

Inclusive Value Chains

Strengthening SME systems, extension models, and impact measurement to enable scalable impact

Examples:

  • SEMS strengthening
  • Extension models
  • Data & traceability platforms
